NYLON SLINGS AND LIFTING SLING HITCHES

Lifting Slings are rated according to hitch type. The three typical hitches are choker, vertical, and basket. Nylon Lifting Slings base the rating on the vertical hitch rating. Recovery Straps are a nylon strap with loops, or eyes, at each end to help “recover” vehicles that have become immobilized by mud, snow, etc. They look very similar to Lifting Slings. A Nylon Strap with metal hooks or hardware, it is not a Recovery Strap. These types of straps are Tow Straps and are strictly used for towing, not recovery. The nylon will stretch as the tension between the vehicles is applied and the ‘’memory’’ of the nylon will force the strap to contract and transfer the energy of the tension to the stuck vehicle to pull it out.
